Placing a Hold on a Book

Why place a hold on a book?

If a book that you were hoping to borrow is currently out on loan to someone else, placing a hold on the book prevents the current borrower from renewing the book and puts you in the borrowing queue so that you are next in line to receive it.

How it works:

Find the book in the Library catalogue (use the 'Books' tab in the main search box on the Library homepage).

  1. Click on the blue 'Make a Request' link to the right of the item record.
  2. Login with the barcode on your RRU ID card (or your student number or staff number) and your last name.
  3. Re-enter your barcode to confirm the request.

Once the book is returned, you will be notified via email that the book is ready for you to pick up.  If you are not able to pick up the book in person, you can forward the email you received, as well as your mailing address to and we will mail the book to your home, with return postage paid.
