RRU students use their student ID cards as a library card. In addition to borrowing books from our regular collection students can borrow AV material, periodicals, and reserve items. RRU students can also use their computer login and password to access our online databases and eBooks.
University Reception creates student cards, which also serve as your library card. If you are on campus, visit the reception desk in the LIC to get a student (library) card. If you are not on campus, please note the following information:
RRU students have access to our Document delivery and interlibrary loan services at no cost. To learn more about these services follow this link: DocDel/ILL
RRU students are entitled to reciprocal borrowing from all public British Columbia colleges and universities. If you are near another university in Canada and you want to take out their books, you need a COPPUL card. Visit the library during your residency or email us at LRC.Notices@royalroads.ca to get your free card(and a list of participating intstitutions).
Alumni of both the Royal Roads Military College and Royal Roads University are entitled to use our library at no cost. Alumni must provide proof of their alumni status and ID with a current address to obtain a library card. These cards expire after one year and must be renewed.
Alumni can borrow books from our regular collection and can renew them twice unless they are on hold but they cannot borrow AV material, periodicals or reserve items.
Alumni can have books sent to them (document delivery) for a fee of $10.00 per request.

Community borrowers have access to books from our regular collection and can renew them twice unless they are on hold but they cannot borrow AV material, periodicals or reserve items. Community borrowers do not have access to our online databases.
Students from other institutions
Students from other institutions within BC can borrow books from the RRU library at no charge. Students must provide a valid student ID. Students from universities in Canada belonging to COPPUL are able to use the Royal Roads library as no cost. COPPUL students must provide a valid student ID and COPPUL card form their university along with proof of their current address.
COPPUL borrowers have the same privileges as community borrowers.
Camosun students have the same borrowing privileges as community borrowers.
