Welcome to the Copyright Office at RRU
The Copyright Office reviews readings and resources used in Royal Roads University courses to ensure that the use of these materials complies with Canadian copyright law. We also provide guidance (although not legal advice!) for general copyright questions for the Royal Roads community, including questions that students may have as they work through their theses or final projects.
The copyright guide is meant to support Royal Roads University instructors, program staff, and students with information about the manner in which materials can be reproduced for personal study and for educational purposes.
Students working on theses or dissertations may also want to review the Copyright Information for Thesis and Dissertation Publication guide on the Library website. It provides extra guidance on things to consider as you prepare to publish your thesis or dissertation, and includes the 'RRU copyright permission form letter for theses & dissertations.'
If you have any questions or concerns about copyright law, or wish to receive additional guidance, please contact the copyright office:
phone (250) 391-2652 (Melanie Wrobel, Copyright Manager).
Please note that the information on the Library website and in the copyright guides is not meant to be interpreted as legal advice.
